Vivo X50, X50 Pro and X50 Pro Plus announced
Vivo has announced three new smartphones. The highlight of the show is the X50 Pro which uses a special gimbal like stablization for its camera. While the X50 Pro Plus offers improved hardware, such as a more powerful processor, but is not equipped with a gimbal like camera. Finally, there is the regular X50 which is the most affordable and also gets a new record in its name. This will be the thinnest 5G smartphone on the market.
The main highlight of this series is the use of a special gimbal like image stabilization system in the X50 Pro model. Vivo claims that such a system is more efficient than traditional optical image stabilization systems. The manufacturer also compared it with professional mechanical stabilizers and the eyes of a chameleon to emphasize its effectiveness.
Vivo X50 Pro
The Vivo X50 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 765G, a new mid-range processor from Qualcomm. The device has a 6.56 inch large AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2376 X 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 90Hz with support for HDR10+ and a noticeable screen curvature.
The Snapdragon 765G processor is optimized for gaming and comes with support for dual mode 5G (SA+NSA) connection, 8 GB of RAM LPDDR4X and 128/256 GB of flash memory UFS2.1.
The Vivo X50 Pro is equipped with a 4,315 mAh battery and 33W fast charging support which can charge the phone upto 57% within 30 minutes.
The Vivo X50 Pro’s main camera features gimbal-style stabilization that promises to deliver advanced stabilization unseen on any other smartphone. The X50 Pro packs a modified 48-megapixel Sony IMX598 sensor with an f/1.6 aperture. The X50 Pro’s built-in gimbal module moves in the opposite direction of shaking motions, providing increased stability for the main camera, Vivo explains.
This system also widens the rotation angle and anti-shake area compared to popular stabilization methods, resulting in super clear images. The Gimbal Radar, an on-screen animated ball that reflects the gimbal’s movement, lets users know when the frame is stable.
Furthermore, the Vivo X50 Pro has an 8 megapixel periscope camera that offers 5x optical zoom and up to 60x hybrid zoom. In addition, there is a 13 megapixel portrait camera and an 8 megapixel wide-angle camera.
On the front for selfies, it has a 32 Megapixel camera located in the hole-punch on the left corner of the display.
The device also includes a Hi-Res Audio, AK4377A premium HiFi Headphone DAC from Asahi-KASEI, NFC and Android 10 operating system with Funtouch OS 10.5.
The phone is available in black and blue color options.

The smartphone is available in a choice of 8GB or 12 GB RAM with a internal storage of 128 GB and 256 GB in three configurations.

Vivo X50
The base model is very similar to the Vivo X50 Pro. But there are a few differences. Firstly , the screen is flat, without curved edges, but with the same diagonal, resolution and frame refresh rate. Secondly, the battery is slightly smaller – 4200 mAh, but with the same 33 W fast charging. And lastly, this device lacks the AK4377A DAC chip.
So the regular Vivo X50 is only 7.49mm thick, making it the thinnest 5G phone on the market, according to Vivo. The device broke the previous record of Oppo Reno 3 Pro for being the thinnest smartphone of just 8.1 mm. Of course, certain compromises have been made to achieve this.
The phone does not have a gimbal camera, but it does offer a 48 megapixel main camera. The periscopic camera as found in the other two models has been replaced by a 5-megapixel macro camera. The 13-megapixel portrait camera and the 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, on the other hand, remain unchanged. Also the size, resolution and refresh rate of the screen remain the same as that of the Pro variant.
Furthermore, the Vivo X50 has a slightly smaller 4200 mAh battery capacity but still supports 33W Vivo FlashCharge feature.
The X50 is of course the cheapest model of the three. The device is available in three color options -pink, black and blue.
