HMD Skyline Nighthawk

HMD Global, the brand behind Nokia phones, is set to unveil a new mid-range smartphone, the HMD Skyline, in July. According to a Finnish publication, the device will be available for purchase at retailers from July 10.

Positioned as a premium offering from HMD, the Skyline is rumored to be priced at €520. It will come in black, with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and will support dual-SIM. The device’s model number is reportedly TA-1688.

While details about the Skyline are scarce, it is believed to have been previously codenamed Tomacat. If this is true, the device is expected to boast an FHD+ OLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC.

The Skyline’s camera system is also expected to impress, with a triple-camera setup on the back featuring a 108MP main sensor, an ultrawide lens, and a macro or depth sensor. For selfies, the device will come equipped with a 32MP camera.

Other notable features of the Skyline include a 4,900mAh battery with 33W fast charging, IP67 dust and water resistance, an under-display fingerprint sensor, and stereo speakers. The device will also come pre-installed with Android 14.

For those on a tighter budget, HMD is also said to be working on a more affordable alternative, the Nighthawk. Priced at under €300, the Nighthawk will share the same FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate as the Skyline, but will feature a less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC.

The Nighthawk will come with 8GB of RAM and offer storage options of 128GB or 256GB. Its camera system will include a 108MP main camera with one additional rear sensor, and a 32MP selfie camera. The device will also have a slightly larger 5,000mAh battery. Notably, the Nighthawk will include a headphone jack, and both devices will run Android 14 and have stereo speakers.
