Mazda 3 price increases for 2022 with a debut of new Carbon Edition and new paint options

In terms of mechanicals, there will be no significant modifications to Mazda’s sporty yet refined 3 sedan and hatchback for the 2022 model year, but there will be some new options to address some of the compact’s flaws. Mazda has also announced that these 2022 cars would begin to emerge in dealer showrooms this winter, according to their website.
New Package and Paint Options
The 2022 Mazda 3 is distinguished by the addition of a new package and two new paint colors. The first of these is the 2.5 S Carbon Edition, which falls in between the Preferred and the Premium packages in terms of price. Despite the fact that the package itself is not new to Mazda, it is new to the 3. With a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G I-4 engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive, it’s a powerful and efficient vehicle.
Polymetal Gray Metallic paint covers the body, and gloss black wheels, door mirrors (which are heated), and the “shark fin” roof antenna serve to distinguish it from the rest of the vehicle. A red leather inside and many of the Preferred package’s choices, as well as a Bose 12-speaker sound system with aluminum speaker grilles and a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio, are all included with the vehicle. The sedan will be available for $27,415 and the hatchback will be available for $28,415 respectively.
The first new paint option is the Platinum Quartz Metallic, which will be available as a standard (i.e., no-additional-cost) color option for Mazda 3s with the 2.5 S Select and above trim levels . The second new paint option is the Carbon Edition’s new Polymetal Gray Metallic premium paint, which costs an additional $395 and is only available as a premium option on the 2.5 Turbo and 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus packages. It is only available as a premium option on the 2.5 Turbo and 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus packages.
The cost of the Mazda 3 for 2022 has increased, not only in terms of its base price, but also in terms of its delivery fee. In 2021, the shipping fee ranged from $920 to $945; in 2022, the delivery fee will be a flat rate of $1,015 per order. Moreover, the MSRPs have gone up by between $300 and $650 for the Mazda 3 2.0 sedan and Mazda 3 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus hatchback, depending on the trim level and options selected. This results in a total price increase of $1,315 to $1,675 above the models released in 2021. The following is how the trim levels are organized:
2022 Mazda 3 2.0
The Mazda 3 2.0, with front-wheel drive, is the entry-level model in the Mazda 3 range for 2022. Thus, it is primarily equipped with a 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G I-4 engine and six-speed automatic transmission, albeit it does come with Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control Plus. A number of safety features, including radar cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with lane-keep assist, driver attention alert and high beam control will be included.
Using the MyMazda app, you will also receive three years of Mazda Connected Services, as well as three months or two gigabytes (whichever comes first) of WiFi hotspot service for the duration of your subscription. The most basic Mazda 3 starts at $21,815, which is a good deal.
2022 Mazda 3 2.5 S
In the 2.5 S trim, which is available as a sedan or hatchback with a bigger 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G I-4 engine, there is a significant step up in performance. On the surface, it’s the same vehicle as the 2.0, but with a larger engine with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Adding the larger engine raises the MSRP of the sedan by $950 (the 2.5 S sedan is priced at $22,765), while adding a second door raises the price by $1,950 (the 2.5 S hatchback is priced at $23,765).
2022 Mazda 3 2.5 S Select
Beyond the new Platinum Quartz Metallic paint option available on the 2.5 S Select trim, Mazda has added blind-spot monitoring, keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rear armrest with cup holders, and door mirror turn signals to the list of features already available on the base 2.5 S. Other enhancements include black leatherette seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and 18-inch wheels in gray for the hatchback and silver for the sedan, among other things. The sedan is priced at $24,115, while the hatchback is priced at $25,115.
2022 Mazda 3 2.5 S Premium
We’ll move on to the Mazda 3 2.5 S Premium now that we’ve covered the new Carbon Edition in greater depth. The front-wheel-drive hatchback is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, while the six-speed automatic transmission is available for both the sedan and the hatchback, regardless of whether they are front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive. The manual hatchback is likewise the same price as the front-drive automatic model ($29,365), while the sedan costs $28,365, according to the manufacturer. If you want all-wheel drive, you’ll have to pay an additional $1,400 for either bodystyle.
Compared to the 2.5 S Select, the 2.5 S Premium includes a Bose 12-speaker audio system with aluminum speaker grilles, three months of SiriusXM, a full-color Active Driving Display HUD, Mazda Navigation, adaptive front lighting, and a “shark fin” antenna, among other features. The automatic transmissions are equipped with paddle shifters, and every Premium model is outfitted with leather seats in either black or red, 18-inch wheels (in a black finish for the hatchback and a bright finish for the sedan), and LED illumination in the headlights and tail lights, among other features.
2022 Mazda 3 2.5 Turbo
According to Mazda, this is the “must-have 3” for car fans. – Our evaluation of the 2021 model noted that, while it is a fun car to drive, it is not a replacement for the legendary Mazdaspeed 3, which was a car that was something equivalent to today’s Honda Civic Type R in terms of performance and handling. As an alternative, the Mazda 3 Turbo is a more sophisticated and mature compact that competes with the Audi A3 and Mercedes A-Class in its segment. Again, the running gear remains the same, as does the 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G turbo I-4 engine, which produces 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque on 93 octane. According to the manufacturer, output will be reduced to 227 horsepower and 310 pounds-feet of torque on 87 octane, which is still excellent considering the reduction in detonation prevention in the fuel.
The 2.5 Turbo is a step up from the 2.5 S AWD, and it comes equipped with the i-Activ AWD system as standard, as well as a pair of 18-inch gloss black wheels and a gloss black finish on the door mirrors and grille, among other features. Larger tailpipes and a “Turbo” emblem are also added, letting those behind know that you’re driving a more powerful Mazda 3. It also has de-icing for the windshield wipers, however, sadly, only the automatic transmission is offered. At the very least, there are paddle shifters hidden behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel to make shifting easier. There are also leatherette seats in either black or beige that include a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, as well as chrome trim around the starter button and glove box latch. The sedan version of this “enthusiast level” Mazda 3 costs $31,565 and the hatchback version costs $32,565 respectively.
2022 Mazda 3 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus
According to Mazda, the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus option has “refined styling” in addition to the regular pieces included in the 2.5 Turbo package. More gloss black features are added, including the lip spoiler on the sedan, and the rear roof spoiler and air dam on the hatchback, among other places. It also comes with leather seats, which are available in either black or red for the hatchback and black or white for the sedan.
The addition of Rear Direction Base Safety with Smart Brake Support-Reverse and Rear Cross-Traffic Braking, as well as Traffic Sign Recognition and a head-up display, significantly improves overall safety. You’ll also receive convenience features like as Traffic Jam Assist, a 360 View Monitor (parking cameras) with front and rear parking sensors, and a Homelink garage door transmitter that is integrated into the auto-dimming frameless internal rearview mirror, among others. All of these upgrades raise the price of the 2.5 Turbo sedan by $2,550 ($34,115) and the hatchback by $2,850 ($35,415), respectively.
